Academic References with ConnectedPapers
Overview
Connected Papers is a visual tool designed to help researchers, students, and professionals explore academic literature in a more intuitive way. It works like a map of relationships between scientific papers, allowing users to discover relevant works without needing to know all the technical terms or key authors in advance.
How does it work?
Seed Paper Input
You can start by entering the title, DOI, or link of an academic paper you’re interested in.
Similarity Analysis
Connected Papers doesn’t rely solely on direct citations. It uses an algorithm that analyzes semantic similarity and co-citation between papers to build a relationship graph.
Access to Metadata
By clicking on a node, you can view the abstract, authors, year, and links to sources like arXiv, Semantic Scholar, or Google Scholar.
Graph Generation
The system generates a visual map where:
- Each node represents a paper.
- Connections indicate thematic or conceptual similarity.
- Nodes that are closer together are more closely related.
Graph Exploration
You can identify:
- Prior works (papers that inspired the seed paper).
- Derivative works (papers that build on the seed paper).
- Related works (papers that address similar topics from different perspectives).
